Want to do something? Plan accordingly
We’ve left Thursdays free from work until 5PM so we could occasionally go on short hikes (the beauty of being self-employed and setting your own schedules) - but, in 9 weeks - most of which have had fantastic weather - we haven’t done one yet. To be fair, we’ve gone hiking every weekend in addition to all the other physical activities we are doing, so it’s not like we haven’t been active overall - but my point is that we haven’t gone hiking on a workday simply because we didn’t plan it into our weekly schedules.
There are two sides of this - one is actually making the time to do it by doing the work we’d normally do on Thursdays in the previous days; the other is that I didn’t research hikes we could actually do in the shorter time frame available on a workday. So this is what I worked on this afternoon, after coming home from a nice restorative hike through woods and fields - I created a list on Wikiloc for workday hikes and put inside it some of the many many trails we’re lucky to have nearby, and that we wouldn’t choose for a weekend hikes as they are too short and easy to be satisfying when you have a whole day at your disposal.
