[Crafting] is cumulative

I once heard in a podcast by the Jack Mountain Bushcraft school the above quote - ‘crafting is cumulative’ - meaning that the more you do it, the better you become at it. As a consequence, you really can’t fake your way through it as in other areas in which just theoretical knowledge and a quick tongue are enough - in crafting you need to have put in a lot of practical work to acquire skills.
The same can be said about physical training, as well as about business; you can’t jump to black, or even purple belt, in jiu jitsu - you have to accumulate lots of mat time. And if I think back about my teaching journey so far, it’s pretty much the same: I started with just 2 students, and through the years progressed to 30+. It was an organic growth that allowed me to increase my workload as my teaching skills increased, preventing me from the burnout that would have likely happened if I had gone from teaching a few people to teaching tens of them in a short amount of time
