The seasonality of training
I believe there are seasons and phases in one’s training, and one should not deny this and fixate on just one modality when its timing is over [at least for the moment].
I was very much into max strength training when I was younger, doing squats, weighted chins, deadlifts, bench press and the like - so we first built a DIY wooden power rack and then, after a few years, I replce it with a metallic one. I also got some professional dip stands for doing heavy weighted dips, and a professional bench to bench press heavy weights.
Now, years later, I find myself not at all into that kind of training modality anymore, favouring lighter weights and higher volumes to complement my endurance training and grappling - and that’s completely fine, even if the initial reaction to the ‘loss of a passion’ was not positive. So yesterday I found myself thinking I should sell my rack and dip stands, and replace them with a power tower to just do dips and chins while requiring a smaller footprint..
