‘Everyone is a little weird once you look closely enough’

I had just finished teaching a private session when my student told me the sentence in the title. It’s quite an obvious fact of life if you’ve been paying any attention to other humans - people get into all kinds of strange things, have many different types of weird behaviours and habits and personality traits.
Mine is that I tend to get bored on holiday, which can be somewhat puzzling for many and sound like a first-world problem; I think the main issue is that I really like what I do, whereas the main narrative you see from people who do part time jobs and go on adventures is that they do so to escape a shitty life-wasting jobs, and the people you see online who say they earn good money and also enjoy their life are mostly scam artists trying to sell you an online course to get rich without effort…
