Ode to the home gym

A home gym is a luxury that everyone into physical training came to appreciate during lockdowns. Mine was born 10 years ago, when I started going down the rabbit hole of training articles and realized I could train at home rather than going to the gym. At first I only had the cheap folding bench and dummbbell set that my brother had bought some time prior, then, with time, it progressed - first with the addition of a barbell set to start doing strength training; then a 16kg kettlebell, because it was an exotic new thing; diy dip stands, when the load for weighted dips had become too heavy to carry it every time to the park and back; a diy wooden rack, when the same had happened to the load for weighted chins and I wanted to start squatting. Over the years it continued to expand as I traded the money I earned by training friends with equipment - a proper power rack, a commercial bench, freestanding dip bars, a diy wall-mounted plate storage, a trap bar, two barbells, 9 kettlebells and many more things.
I think that having a training space of some sort at home is a necessity for people interested in teaching physical training, as it provides the perfect conditions for tinkering - peace, quiet, unlimited access to all the equipment you have. For me it was also essential in starting to get proper hands-on experience in teaching and training others while I was doing theoretical study.
