‘Trail running races’ Quest completed
At the end of 2023, while housesitting in the Dordogne, we set out some goals for 2024, as part of our usual brainstorming on New Year’s Resolutions.
One of these was to run 3 trail running races - though, in a way, I didn’t really think I’d actually do them, as I have been thinking about getting back into running for years and never really followed up on it.
Fast forward one month, and we’re driving back from France after attending a relative’s funeral - another early death, which made us say ‘fuck it’ and sign up for a race my brother had told me about a few months before, and that I was procrastinating on actually signing up for.
4 months later, I can say it has been a great decision. It kickstarted a renewed interested in running (and, in general, in physical preparation and in adventures) and has been great for lifting up my spirits overall. Last week I completed the 3rd trail running race of this year (and of my life) - but I am definitely not going to stop here. I’d like to do one last big adventure before the summer holidays - as the races we’ve done have all been of relatively easy distances, to avoid injury - and then sign up for longer distances over the fall and winter as I get more accostumed to running. We’ll see how it goes..
